Civic Leader Kim Fletcher Endorses Kirk Jorgensen for Congress

San Diego, CA (September 13, 2013) – Kirk Jorgensen, Republican candidate for California’s 52nd Congressional District, today announced that he received the endorsement of Charles “Kim” Fletcher, Jr., longtime San Diegan civic leader and former chairman of the board and chief executive officer of Home Federal Savings and Loan.

Fletcher said, “Kirk Jorgensen’s outstanding record as a Marine Corps Officer and combat veteran makes it imperative that we send a man like him to the House of Representatives. He knows the importance of maintaining our military dominance.

“As San Diego has one of the largest military presences in the country, his election will aid us in maintaining defense jobs. Kirk has proven his leadership and also is a committed family man,” Fletcher continued. “I endorse Kirk Jorgensen, believing it is in the best interest of our country and San Diego.”

“I truly am honored by Kim Fletcher’s support of my candidacy,” Jorgensen said. “Mr. Fletcher’s selfless work with the Boys and Girls Clubs has enriched countless lives and made San Diego a better community. I appreciate his endorsement and am humbled by his kind words.”

BACKGROUND:

Charles K. “Kim” Fletcher is President of Investors Leasing Corporation. Fletcher retired in 1992 as Chairman of the Board at Home Federal Savings and Loan, a financial institution founded by his father. Before graduating from Stanford University, Fletcher served his country during World War II in the United States Army. Fletcher also is a life member of the Salvation Army Advisory Board and is a member of the San Dieguito Boys and Girls Clubs.

Kirk Jorgensen is a longtime San Diego resident. He is a U.S. Marine Corps combat veteran who deployed to the Middle East and Europe and led teams to combat terrorism around the globe. Jorgensen’s time as an active duty Marine Officer was marked by numerous awards and honors, including the Defense Meritorious Service Medal. Most recently, Jorgensen worked in the private sector in San Diego, helping identify technologies that increase the strength of America’s defense capabilities. Kirk, his wife, Dr. Georgine Jorgensen, and their two sons live in the Black Mountain Ranch.
