Encinitas City Councilwoman Maggie Houlihan lost her battle with endometrial cancer Friday, Sept. 16, 2011. Having served on the city council since 2000, she was active on many regional boards and a strong defender of the issues which were important to her, especially keeping her city environmentally friendly.

I served with Maggie on the Regional Solid Waste Association Board of Directors since 2003,  and knew her as a strong supporter of recycling and an outspoken advocate of educating the community about the environment.

Encinitas will have a big decision ahead to fill Maggie’s seat — her legacy will live on.

  1. Councilwoman Houlihan taught us valuable lessons
about the value of every day and also making our
opportunities count. Rest in Peace to a Fighter.
