Here’s a basic rundown of my fiscal politics:
I came from nothing. Broke as hell. I’ve worked my tail off to realize some professional, educational and personal success. I am reimbursed for my professional endeavors with something called money. This is my property and the foundation of my economic liberty.
Yet roughly 50 percent of my economic liberty is confiscated annually by a profoundly inefficient entity that takes my money through the threat of force, including imprisonment. It is no different than if I was allowed to keep everything I earn, and then that same inefficient entity came to my house once a year and took half of everything I owned.
When I ask for an accounting of how my property is being spent after it is taken from me, I am accused of being greedy and uncaring. This accusation is likely leveled at me because the people who run that entity are trading my property to others to fulfill an ideological agenda and/or in exchange for political support.
This happens on both sides of the political aisle and there is no viable alternative to those two sides. However, one side promises to take even more of my economic liberty each year; therefore, I am a member of the the other side.
