A New Wind?

One of my main topics writing on this blog will be the Republican Central Committee, as I pointed out on my first post. For good or for ill, the RCC is one of the major centers of power on the right in the county, and it’s important in my mind that there be some degree of open conversation about it’s actions.

I was mulling over this role over much of the last year, and sort of poking around for a forum. See, after the election losses, which were substantial, the RCC appeared to pretty much turn on itself, with various charges back and forth from various factions. Frankly, some of the charges were pretty over the top, but there were some well thought out structural complaints that probably needed to be addressed. I thought it was important that post election discussions take place, but was pretty embarrassed and disgusted by the personal nature, from all sides, of the infighting.

I thought it would be helpful – and I know this is inside baseball readers – to have a source not tied to any particular faction to look at the various back and forths and give nonpartisan comment.

In the last couple months though I’ve noticed a change, a new wind, from most RCC members. Across the board activist types appear to be refocusing on (gasp) Democrats again! I think this is great. Maybe it’s natural that after a  big loss we step back and tear ourselves up. Maybe that’s actually the right thing to do – like how a company reforms itself when sales are falling off. But it’s GREAT to see everyone refocusing on the real opposition… the Democrats… who now have a voter registration advantage in the county thanks to ACORN!
