Council Votes Down Attempt to Debate Arizona Law
Squashed by a majority of Escondido City Councilmembers, the attempt by liberal member Olga Diaz to debate and denounce Arizona’s immigration law (SB1070) and to rescind Escondido’s current resolution opposing sanctuary status did not get a hearing.
The council voted 3-2 with Diaz and Sam Abed voting no, to oppose the attempt to discuss the issue. This means that our NON-Sanctuary city status still holds.
